On or about January 24, 2005, this subject awoke to discover a series of
marks on his left arm. A similar set of marks also appeared two weeks
earlier, but were located on the left arm.
"Figure A" shows a set of evenly
spaced marks, arranged in a row. Notice the hives that formed around the
entry points.
"Figure B" illustrates an older
set of marks (Approx. 14 days), now scabbed over.

On the morning of December 2, 2004, this subject also awoke to find a series of strange marks on his arm.
The primary set, was located
about mid-point of the left forearm,
on the inside. It consisted of
a series of five small puncture marks arranged in a
subset of two and three.
Rather than forming a straight line, however. the
marks were spaced in a shallow arc with about a two inch radius.
The puncture marks were exactly 1/8” apart, and the space between the two
sets was exactly 3/16” apart. The skin surrounding the puncture marks showed
signs of contusion, and also followed the arcing pattern. On the upper
forearm, on the inside, were two small contusions,
one slightly larger than the other and spaced at about and inch apart. These
bruises were accompanied by an elongated puncture wound immediately to their
left (closer to the bend in the arm).

Additional notes:
In order to rule out insects as a factor, AAARC consulted with
a highly respected and knowledgeable source who works in the field of home
pest control. Our source lives and works in the same state as one of the subjects.
The source indicated that never had he observed a bug bite that looked like this,
nor was he aware of an insect that could possibly inflict a series of wounds
in this manner.
It should be noted that, even if an insect was
somehow proven to be
responsible for the puncture wounds, such an explanation would not account
for the other assorted contusions that appeared, concurrently. Neither, would
such an explanation address the other unusual circumstances of these cases.
It is also worth mentioning that
not everyone reacts in the same way to a foreign object or substance that
enters the skin. This is true for a variety of health reasons. Some
individuals react by breaking out in hives, while others may bruise easily.
