Always Watching the Skies

**Bright Orange Object**
-- by Julie Harp, AAARC 05AUG01 - Sunday (3:00 to 3:45 AM) Bloomington, Indiana. "I was having trouble sleeping one Tuesday night at the beginning of May. Around three o'clock AM I got up to go to the restroom. The moon was shining so brightly that it was throwing shadows across the living room floor. I walked to the window and looked out at a clear starlit sky. For some odd reason my attention was drawn to a fairly bright orange star almost hidden behind the branches of the tree in the front yard. It didn't seem all that peculiar but I knelt down and craned my neck to get a better view anyway. After a long moment I turned away and finished my trip to the restroom. The living room window was not exactly on the way back to bed but again I felt compelled to take another look outside. This time I did notice something unusual. The star was in a distinctly different location. My attention peaked I stood watching it for several long moments. It sat stationary for most of that time but all at once I saw it start to move. It rocked back and forth in little motions much akin to the behavior of a falling leaf. At the end of this maneuver it made a short jump to the West and fell stationary again. I watched for about forty-five minutes as it repeated this peculiar behavior again and again. Sometimes it jumped north, sometimes west again making a slow zigzag pattern across the sky. When I finally gave in to weariness and returned to bed it was still there winking in the sky much farther northwest than before. I'm not sure exactly what it was that was hovering in the sky above my house half that night. I would defy anyone to show me though, a man made craft that can perform such maneuvering."
