The Sounds of Silence

-- by Lynn Taylor

19OCT96 - Saturday morning (02:30 AM)

Encouraged and challenged by the previous night's events, I returned to the hillside, on the other end of the lake, to wait, watch and freeze some more. At this late hour, the sounds of silence could be heard, punctuated only by the occasional distant roar of a lonely highflying jet. I was beginning to think, perhaps, these night visitors had taken the night off, when the dogs began to bark wildly. At first, I saw nothing, so I listened intently. That's when I heard it, a whirring, whining sound. Like the sound a big four-wheeler, makes as it clips down a highway. But there was no traffic anywhere around the area, and there hadn't been for some time. Then I saw them. First, one sphere floating north, just on the other side of the tree line, then another, following a quarter of a mile, or so, behind the first. I could see them shining through the breaks in the trees, as they passed by, partially obscured from view. I have no proof, but I believe they knew I would be out there again with that camera. This time they were in a hurry, and did not have time to play.

All the while, I have assumed the sound that was alerting the dogs to the presence of UFOs, was a high frequency sound beyond the range of human hearing. Perhaps there is. But now I know there are definitely sonic frequencies produced that can be detected by the human ear providing a quiet place can be found from which to listen.
